Christine Kuhn (nee Graf) died peacefully on June 24, 2016 in Glen Ridge, NJ at the age of 80.
Christine is survived by her three loving sons and their spouses, George (Lisa) of Roanoke, VA, James (Meg) of Eagle, ID, Christopher (Kristin) of Robbinsville, NJ and her son-in-law, Alan Bispo Sr of Bloomfield, NJ, and nine grandchildren Alan Bispo Jr., Jimmy(and his spouse Alexis), Jennifer, Alex Bispo, Christopher, Emily Rose, Cassandra, Owen and Logan. Christine was not only a terrific grandmother but was expected to be a great-grandmother in October 2016 (Jimmy & Alexis). She is preceded in death by her loving husband George Sr., and her beloved daughter, Mary Patrice (Patty) Bispo.
Christine was born on June 4, 1936 in Corning, NY to Mary (nee Gaiss) and Traugott Graf. She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1954 and attended two years of school at Trenton State College (The College of New Jersey). Christine’s fondest memories are as a camper at Camp Otsego in Cooperstown, NY where she met her husband, George, at the adjacent boys camp, Camp Chenango. She married George on June 23, 1956. She was an original “Tenter” at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Bloomfield. Christine’s professional career included primarily a secretary for Hub’s Carpet Store in Upper Montclair, NJ. She was also a Member of the 200 Club in Upper Montclair and the women’s auxiliary at Mountainside Hospital for many years. Christine was a long-time resident of Bloomfield, NJ and later additionally Pocono Pines, PA. Christine adored her entire family, particularly her nine grandchildren, as well as family originating from Corning and Buffalo, NY and her very close, beloved local girlfriends. She enjoyed many summer vacations with her family in Lavallette, NJ as well as many years of travel with the Villanova gang. In her later years she enjoyed time with her family at her’s and George’s mountain home in Pocono Pines, PA (the Little House). She was a long-time New Jersey Devils fan, a devout Roman Catholic and a huge Jeopardy! fan. She was an incredibly congenial, compassionate and generous person and will be missed by her entire family and friends.
The family will welcome visitors at Halpin-Bitecola Funeral Home, 1284 Broad Street, Bloomfield, NJ 07003 on Monday, June 27, 2016 between the hours of 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. A funeral is scheduled for 10 am, Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Bloomfield, NJ followed by burial services at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair, NJ. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Christine's life.
