Elmer Hill, of Glen Ridge, NJ passed away peacefully on June 11th. He was 101.
Elmer was born in Hastings, PA to Elmer and Anne Moreland Hill. Elmer was a proud member of the United States Navy. He worked for the United States Post Office, as a postal supervisor for 48 years, in Bloomfield and Orange NJ. Elmer had a great interest in history that extended into the history of the railroad, steam trains, and an avid member of the Morris Canal Society. He greatly enjoyed traveling, where he explored NJ to the fullest and visited every state park that he could. Mostly, Elmer had a lot of special times at Long Beach Island, where a lot of cherished memories were spent with his family.
Elmer was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Eleanor, and His brother Edward.
Elmer is survived his three children; daughter, Nancy Anne Hill, sons, William Edward Hill and John Reid Hill, and his sister-in-law Marion Reid Smart.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16th from 10-11 am, at Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale Funeral Home, 1284 Broad St. Bloomfield. Social distancing will apply for all who wish to attend. Private interment will follow at the Rosedale Cemetery in Montclair.
Donations in Elmer’s name can be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation or Christ Church in Glen Ridge.
