It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eugenia Rangel, a beloved individual who touched the lives of many with her kindness, independence, and fiery spirit. Eugenia, born on August 11, 1937, Ponce, Puerto Rico, transitioned from this world on April 29, 2024.
Eugenia's life was marked by love and devotion to her family. She took immense joy in spending weekends surrounded by her loved ones and found solace in their presence during gatherings. Her passion for reading romance novels and magazines not only brought her entertainment but also served as a means to sharpen her English language skills—a testament to her determination and continuous pursuit of knowledge.
Described as loving, caring, independent, and feisty by those who knew her best, Eugenia will always be remembered for the warmth she exuded towards others and the strength she demonstrated in all aspects of her life. Among her proudest accomplishments was raising a beautiful family with grace and unwavering love.
Eugenia is preceded in death by her beloved husband Juan Rangel and siblings Fernando Colon, Ruben Echevarria, Anna Serra, Magdalena Rios, and Lillian Cruz. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her surviving family members: daughters Julia Zabala and Vivian Romero, son Harold Rangel; sons-in-law Heriberto Zabala and Arturo Romero; daughter-in-law Norma Rangel; grandchildren Herbert Zabala, Jasmin Castillo, Jennifer Zabala Velasquez, Wilson Salazar, Natalia Rangel, Jonathan Rangel, Juan Carlos Romero, Paola Velez-White and Juan Camilo Romero; great-grandchildren Jaelyn Castillo, Kayla Zabala, Jordan Velez, Juliana Castillo, Sarah Romero, Isabella Romero, Kaiden Rangel Garza, Daxton Rangel Garza, Adonis Rangel, and Symphony Noel Rangel; as well as siblings Pedro Echevarria, Carmen Santiago and Reinaldo Echevarria, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation service to honor Eugenia's life will be held on May 9th at Halpin-Bitecola-Brookdale Funeral & Cremation Services in Bloomfield, NJ. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects starting from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Eugenia's presence will be deeply missed but the love she shared with those around her will continue to live on in their hearts forever. May she rest in peace knowing that she was cherished beyond measure.
