If you visited the Brookdale Reformed Church in Bloomfield, NJ, you may have been greeted by a tall friendly man who puts out his hand and says, “I’m George.” George was a member of the church for about 20 years. He was friendly and a willing helper. He loved taking his turn to ring the church bell on Sunday mornings.
George grew up in Whitehouse, NJ. His father, George, Sr., died when George eight years old. He lived with his mother, Ruth Lois Voorhees Seals. George went to school at the Hunterdon Developmental Center where his mother worked. He loved visiting his grandfather Voorhees’s farm where he learned to swim and ride a horse. He loved being around animals. He loved parties, food and dancing. He liked to travel, and he was always ready to come home. He enjoyed watching baseball and football games with his mother.
Since moving to Bloomfield, NJ, George resided with Caring House. He retired from The ARC of Essex County workshop activities but continued in the daytime social programs. He had many friends who miss him
In lieu of flowers, we request your donations to The ARC of Essex County or Caring, Inc. These organizations provided many services and activities that enriched George’s life.
