Gerald Blasi, a beloved member of the community, passed away on August 2, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting legacy. He was born on August 7, 1945, in Newark, NJ.
Gerald dedicated 27 years of his life to the Paramus School District, where he played a crucial role in building maintainence. His commitment and hard work were truly admirable, leaving a positive impact on all those around him. In addition to his professional achievements, Gerald Honorably Served our Country in the US Air Force, showcasing his dedication to serving others.
Outside of work, Gerald had a passion for music and was known for his love of music as a DJ. He found joy in spending time with his mother playing bingo and shared a special bond with her. Gerald also enjoyed watching professional wrestling both in person and on TV, showing his enthusiasm for sports entertainment. His affection for all animals reflected his kind and gentle nature.
Gerald will be dearly missed by his surviving family and friends including his brother Thomas Blasi and sister-in-law Lois Andrea Blasi, brother Dennis Blasi, daughter Cherilyn Emma, son-in-law Marc Emma. He is preceded in death by his father Dominic Blasi and mother Janet Blasi.
His easy-going personality and kind demeanor endeared him to all who knew him. Gerald will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and love for life.
The visitation will be held at Halpin-Bitecola-Brookdale Funeral & Cremation Services in Bloomfield on August 7, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass will take place at Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark on August 8, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM followed by interment at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield at 11:45 AM. When parking at the Cathedral, please take note that you MUST park along Ridge Street or in the Cathedral Parking Lot on Ridge Street and the corner of Park Ave., on the right.
As we mourn the loss of Gerald Blasi, let us also celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the joy he brought to those around him. May his memory live on in our hearts forever.
