Jose Merino passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2025, in Bloomfield, New Jersey, at the age of 88 surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 29, 1936, in Babahoyo, Ecuador, Jose's journey to the United States began in 1974, driven by his commitment to providing a better life for his family.

Jose is remembered for his incredible work ethic, unmatched organizational skills, and an exceptional sense of classic style. For 46 wonderful years, he was married to his devoted wife Georgina Merino. Together, they created a legacy that will live on for generations to come.

He was a proud father to Pedro, Laura, Luisa, Angelita, Jose, Jackeline, Orlando, Lorena, Manuel y Jessica. He was an enthusiastic spectator at every soccer game, delighting in the accomplishments of his grandchildren, Michael Anthony and Kaitlyn. Jose's lively spirit shone through during family events, where he could often be found singing and dancing. His love for nature shone bright with the pride he took in gardening and landscaping. Jose had a strong affection for playing the lotto (almost daily).

Though he may no longer be with us, the lessons he imparted and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him including his wife, children, and grandchildren. Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro & Angela Merino, and his daughter Teresa, whose legacy of kindness and hard work he carried throughout his life.

Jose Merino leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories that will forever resonate in the lives of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalms 73:26
