Margaret Flaherty

Margaret Ellen (nee McGinnis) Flaherty of Bloomfield passed away on Tuesday April 29, 2014 at the age of 90. She was born in Scranton, PA, settling in Bloomfield in 1946. Margaret was the Fleet Management Coordinator for Beecham Products of Clifton for 15 years, before retiring in 1988. Prior to working in Beecham Products she was a crossing guard in Bloomfield for several years. Mrs. Flaherty was predeceased in 2007 by her husband John H. "Jack" Flaherty who was the Bloomfield fire chief; a son, John H. Flaherty, Jr.; her sister Anne McDevitt and brothers Eugene, Thomas and William McGinnis. Surviving are a son James Flaherty & his wife Kathleen and a daughter Joanne Flaherty Erickson and her husband Eugene; a sister Agnes Hansbury and a brother James McGinnis and his wife Kate; Grandchildren, Jamie Brad, Jackie Caputo, Alyssa, Jack, Mike, Joey, Tommy and Sean Flaherty: and Great-Grandchildren Brendan, Logan, Madison, Isabella, Gabriella, Michael and Preston Visitation will be at Frank Halpin's Brookdale Funeral Home, 1284 Broad Street, Bloomfield on Monday from 7 - 9 p.m. and Tuesday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral will be held on Wednesday from the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 60 Byrd Avenue, Bloomfield. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington.
